Jackson County, Florida is a county located in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 46755 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 49656, It is the 42nd largest in terms of population. The county comprises an area of 954.58 miē (2472.35 kmē), of which, 915.64 square miles (2371.5 kmē) of it is land and 38.94 square miles (100.85 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 26th largest by total area among Florida's county.

The July 2008 population estimate is 49656, The racial makeup of the county was 34936 White, 13386 Black or African American, 348 American Indian, 254 Asian, 13 Native Hawaiian, and 719 from two or more races.
