Jackson County, Colorado is a county located in the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 1577 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 1346, It is fourth least populous county in Colorado. It has total area of 1620.95 miē (4198.24 kmē), of which, 1613.21 square miles (4178.19 kmē) of it is land and 7.74 square miles (20.05 kmē) of it is water, it is the 29th largest in terms of geographical size.

The population density was 1 people per square mile (0.39/kmē), making its Colorado's fourth least densely populated county. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 25.6% under the age of 18, 5.4% from 18 to 24, 26.9% from 25 to 44, 29.1% from 45 to 64, and 13.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 101.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 107.8 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 1346, The racial makeup of the county was 97.62% White, 0.37% Black or African American, 1.04% American Indian, 0.07% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 0.89% from two or more races.
