Jackson County, Arkansas is a county located in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. The county has a population of 18418 as per the 2000 census data. In July 2008, its estimated population was 16936, It is the 45th most populous county in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The county spans an area of 641.45 square miles (1661.35 square kilometre), of which, 633.52 square miles (1640.81 square kilometre) of it is land and 7.92 square miles (20.51 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Arkansas's 41st largest county by total area.

For every 100 females there were 91.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.8 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 16936, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 78.6% White, 19.76% Black or African American, 0.41% American Indian, 0.21% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 1.01% from two or more races.
