Jackson City is a city located in the Breathitt County, Kentucky, United States. It is home to over 2490 people (2000 census). In July 2008, its estimated population was 2400, It is Kentucky's 144th largest by population . The city extends throughout a territory of 2.75 sq mi (7.12 square kilometre ), of which, 2.66 square miles (6.89 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.09 square miles (0.23 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Kentucky's 148th largest by total area.
