Island Lake Village is one of the city of Lake and McHenry counties, Illinois, located towards the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 8153. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 8588, It is 236th most populous in Illinois. It is spread over 3.06 sq mi (7.93 square kilometre), of which, 2.85 square miles (7.38 square kilometre ) of it is land and 0.21 square miles (0.54 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 336th largest by total area in Illinois.

As of the census of 2000, there were 8153 people in the city, organized into 2837 households, and 2151 families living in the city. The population density was 2856.3 people per square mile (1102.82/kmē), it is the 152nd most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Illinois. There were 2893 housing units at an average density of 1015.1 per square mile (391.93/kmē). The average household size was 2.87 persons, and the average family size was 3.31 persons. In the city the population is diverse age-wise, with 32% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 42.8% from 25 to 44, 15% from 45 to 64, and 4.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.7 males. The median age is 32.2 years, the median age of male residents at 31.9 and the median age of female residents at 32.5. The racial makeup of the city was 7647 White, 40 Black or African American, 13 American Indian, 132 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, 98 from two or more races and 222 Ohter races.
