Island Heights Borough is a borough in the Ocean County, New Jersey, United States. In 2000, the population was 1751. The borough's estimated population as of July 2008 was 1871, giving it the 76th smallest population among New Jersey. It is spread over 0.87 sq mi (2.25 square kilometre), of which, 0.6 square miles (1.55 square kilometre ) of it is land and 0.27 square miles (0.7 square kilometre) of it is water, making it New Jersey's 59th smallest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1751 people, 457 households, and 284 families living in the borough. The population density was 2909.2 people per square mile (1123.25/kmē), it is the 245th most populated borough in terms of population density. There were 807 housing units at an average density of 1345 per square mile (519.31/kmē). The average household size was 2.48 persons, and the average family size was 2.97 persons. In the borough the population was distributed as follows: 22.4% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 24.5% from 25 to 44, 29.2% from 45 to 64, and 17.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.4 males. The median age of the borough's population was 43 years, The median age of males was 42.2 years, for females the median age was 43.7 years. The racial makeup of the borough was 97.77% White, 0.11% Black or African American, 0.46% American Indian, 0.63% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, 0.97% from two or more races and 0.06% Other races.
