Isabella County is a county located in Michigan, in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 63351 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 66778, It is the 28th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Michigan. It covers total area of 577.75 square miles (1496.37 square kilometre), of which, 574.27 square miles (1487.35 square kilometre) of it is land and 3.48 square miles (9.01 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 24th smallest in terms of geographical size.

The population density was 110.3 people per square mile (42.59/kmē), giving it the 29th most densely populated county among the Michigan. There were 24528 housing units at an average density of 42.7 per square mile (16.49/kmē). The average household size was 2.55 and the average family size was 3.03. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 20.3% under the age of 18, 29.4% from 18 to 24, 23.8% from 25 to 44, 17.4% from 45 to 64, and 9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 91.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.6 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 66778, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 60524 White, 1752 Black or African American, 1924 American Indian, 1407 Asian, 36 Native Hawaiian, and 1135 from two or more races.
