Irvine City is one of the city of Orange County, California, located towards the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 143072 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 207500, making it the 28th most populous in California. The city has a total area of 46.5 sq mi (120.43 square kilometre), of which, 46.18 square miles (119.61 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.31 square miles (0.8 square kilometre) of it is water, making it California's 41st largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 143072 people in the city, organized into 51199 households, and 34380 families living in the city.
