Iron County, Utah is a county located in the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. The population of the county was 33779 as per the 2000 census data. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 44540, It is Utah's ninth most populous county. The county has a total area of 3301.84 miē (8551.73 kmē), of which, 3297.98 square miles (8541.73 kmē) of it is land and 3.87 square miles (10.02 kmē) of it is water, it is the 11th largest by area in the U.S. state of Utah.

The population density was 10.2 people per square mile (3.94/kmē), it is the 12th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Utah. In the county Population was distributed with 31.2% under the age of 18, 20.6% from 18 to 24, 23.6% from 25 to 44, 16.1% from 45 to 64, and 8.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.6 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 44540, The racial makeup of the county was 93.72% White, 0.76% Black or African American, 2.15% American Indian, 1.46% Asian, 0.41% Native Hawaiian, and 1.5% from two or more races.
