Iowa Falls City is one of the city of Hardin County, Iowa, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 5193 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 4965, giving it the 72nd largest population among Iowa. It is spread over 5.05 square miles (13.08 kmē), of which, 4.98 square miles (12.9 kmē ) of it is land and 0.07 square miles (0.18 kmē) of it is water, making it Iowa's 65th largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 5193 people, 2215 households, and 1331 families residing in the city. The population density was 1043.1 people per square mile (402.74/kmē), making its Iowa's 313th most densely populated city. There were 2412 housing units at an average density of 484.3 per square mile (186.99/kmē). The average household size was 2.19 and the average family size was 2.81. The racial makeup of the city was 5055 White, 63 Black or African American, 8 American Indian, 17 Asian, Native Hawaiian, 28 from two or more races and 22 Ohter races.
