Iowa County is a one of the county from Wisconsin's 72 counties, located in Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 22780 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 23604, It is Wisconsin's 48th most populous county. The county has a total area of 768.08 square miles (1989.32 kmē), of which, 762.67 square miles (1975.31 kmē) of it is land and 5.41 square miles (14.01 kmē) of it is water, making it Wisconsin's 43rd largest county by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 22780 people in the county, organized into 8764 households, and 6210 families residing in the county. The population density was 29.9 people per square mile (11.54/kmē), it is the 20th least populated county in terms of population density. There were 9579 housing units at an average density of 12.6 per square mile (4.86/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.56 persons, and the average family size was 3.06 persons. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 27.1% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 13.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.7 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 23604, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 98.22% White, 0.41% Black or African American, 0.11% American Indian, 0.49% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 0.76% from two or more races.
