Iosco County is a one of the county from Michigan's 83 counties, located in Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 27339 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 25932, making it Michigan's 55th largest county. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1890.77 miē (4897.07 kmē), of which, 549.11 square miles (1422.19 kmē) of it is land and 1341.66 square miles (3474.88 kmē) of it is water, it is the 12th largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks seventh in the size of its inland waterways in Michigan.

As of the census of 2000, there were 27339 people in the county, organized into 11727 households, and 7855 families living in the county. The population density was 49.8 people per square mile (19.23/kmē), it is Michigan's 48th most densely populated county. There were 20432 housing units at an average density of 37.2 per square mile (14.36/kmē). The average household size was 2.3 and the average family size was 2.79. In the Iosco County, 22.4% of the population was under the age of 18, 5.4% were 18 to 24, 23.4% were 25 to 44, 27.3% were 45 to 64, and 21.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.6 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 25932, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 96.36% White, 0.74% Black or African American, 0.81% American Indian, 0.64% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 1.4% from two or more races.
