Ionia County, Michigan is a county located in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 61518 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 63833, making it Michigan's 30th largest county. Its area is just over 580.23 square miles (1502.79 square kilometre), of which, 573.21 square miles (1484.61 square kilometre) of it is land and 7.02 square miles (18.18 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 56th largest in terms of geographical size.

The population's age distribution was 26.9% under the age of 18, 11.5% from 18 to 24, 31% from 25 to 44, 20.5% from 45 to 64, and 10% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 115.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 120.4 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 63833, The racial makeup of the county was 58701 White, 3513 Black or African American, 405 American Indian, 253 Asian, 8 Native Hawaiian, and 953 from two or more races.
