Ione City, Amador County, California is a city located in the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Ione City is home to 7129 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 7480, giving it the 521st largest population among California. The city encompasses an area of 4.77 mi˛ (12.35 square kilometre ), of which, 4.74 square miles (12.28 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.03 square miles (0.08 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 555th largest by size in California.
