Idaho County, Idaho is a county located in the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. The county has a population of 15511 as per the 2000 census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 15448, It is the 20th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Idaho. The county encompasses an area of 8502.48 sq mi (22021.32 kmē ), of which, 8484.88 square miles (21975.74 kmē) of it is land and 17.59 square miles (45.56 kmē) of it is water, making it Idaho's largest county by total area.

The population density was 1.8 people per square mile (0.69/kmē), it is the seventh least populated county in terms of population density. There were 7537 housing units at an average density of 0.9 per square mile (0.35/kmē). The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 2.95. In the county the population was spread out, with 25% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 23.3% from 25 to 44, 28.4% from 45 to 64, and 17% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 103.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 104.9 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 15448, The racial makeup of the county was 93.92% White, 0.18% Black or African American, 3.81% American Indian, 0.45% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 1.61% from two or more races.
