Hurricane City is a one of the Putnam County, West Virginia, located in Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Hurricane City is home to 5222 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 6335, giving it the 30th largest population among West Virginia. The city has a total area of 2.98 sq mi (7.72 square kilometre), of which, 2.96 square miles (7.67 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 67th largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 5222 people, 2098 households, and 1519 families living in the city.
