Huntington City is a United States city located in the Cabell and Wayne counties, West Virginia, United States. In 2000, the population was 51475. Its population was estimated at 49185 in July 2008, It is second most populous in West Virginia. Its area is just over 17.99 mi˛ (46.59 sq km), of which, 15.92 square miles (41.23 sq km) of it is land and 2.07 square miles (5.36 sq km) of it is water, it is the sixth largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks first in the size of its inland waterways in West Virginia.

The population density was 3234.1 people per square mile (1248.69/km˛), it is the fifth most densely populated city in the U.S. state of West Virginia.
