Huntington City, Indiana is a city of the Huntington County, Indiana, United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 17450 inhabitants. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 16521, It is the 47th largest by population in the U.S. state of Indiana. The city extends throughout a territory of 8.43 sq mi (21.83 kmē ), of which, 8.35 square miles (21.63 kmē) of it is land and 0.09 square miles (0.23 kmē) of it is water, making it Indiana's 53rd largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 17450 people, 6717 households, and 4417 families residing in the city. The population density was 2091 people per square mile (807.34/kmē), giving it the 143rd most densely populated city among the Indiana. There were 7262 housing units at an average density of 869.7 per square mile (335.79/kmē). The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 3.03.
