Humphreys County, Mississippi is a county located in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. It is home to over 11206 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 10089, It is the tenth least populous county in the U.S. state of Mississippi. Its area is just over 431.16 sq mi (1116.7 sq km), of which, 418.09 square miles (1082.85 sq km) of it is land and 13.07 square miles (33.85 sq km) of it is water, it is the 15th smallest in terms of geographical size.

The population density was 26.8 people per square mile (10.35/kmē), giving it the 25th least densely populated county among the Mississippi. There were 4138 housing units at an average density of 9.9 per square mile (3.82/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.95 persons, and the average family size was 3.54 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 32.7% under the age of 18, 10.7% from 18 to 24, 25.8% from 25 to 44, 18.8% from 45 to 64, and 12% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 87.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 78.7 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 10089, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 26.35% White, 72.77% Black or African American, 0.12% American Indian, 0.33% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 0.44% from two or more races.
