Humboldt County is a one of the county from Nevada's 17 counties, located in Western Region (Mountain) of United States. The county has a population of 16106 as per the 2000 census data. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 17763, making it Nevada's ninth largest county. The county encompasses an area of 9657.87 square miles (25013.77 sq km ), of which, 9647.91 square miles (24987.97 sq km) of it is land and 9.96 square miles (25.8 sq km) of it is water, it is the fourth largest by area in the U.S. state of Nevada.

As of the census of 2000, there were 16106 people, 5733 households, and 4136 families living in the county. The population density was 1.7 people per square mile (0.66/kmē), it is the tenth most populated county in terms of population density. There were 6954 housing units at an average density of 0.7 per square mile (0.27/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.77 persons, and the average family size was 3.28 persons. In the Humboldt County, 31.4% of the population was under the age of 18, 7.5% were 18 to 24, 31.2% were 25 to 44, 22.3% were 45 to 64, and 7.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 110.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 110.2 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 17763, The racial makeup of the county was 91.54% White, 0.75% Black or African American, 5.07% American Indian, 0.7% Asian, 0.12% Native Hawaiian, and 1.81% from two or more races.
