Humboldt City, Gibson and Madison counties, Tennessee is a city located in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 9467 inhabitants. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 9159, It is Tennessee's 53rd largest by population . According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.67 mi˛ (25.05 square kilometre), of which, 9.66 square miles (25.02 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 92nd largest by total area among Tennessee.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 9467 people, 5369 households, and 3232 families living in the city. The population density was 980 people per square mile (378.38/km˛), it would be the 74th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Tennessee. The median age was 39.2 years, the median age of male residents at 36.4 and the median age of female residents at 41.5. The racial makeup of the city was 55.06% White, 43% Black or African American, 0.25% American Indian, 0.06% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, 0.61% from two or more races and 1% Other races.
