Hugo City is a city located in the Choctaw County, Oklahoma, United States. It is home to over 5536 people (2000 census). Its population was estimated at 5390 in July 2008, It is Oklahoma's 61st largest by population . The city spans an area of 5.55 square miles (14.37 kmē), of which, 5.54 square miles (14.35 kmē) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 kmē) of it is water, makes it the 180th largest by total area in Oklahoma.

As of the census of 2000, there were 5536 residents, 2309 households, and 1416 families in the city. The population density was 999 people per square mile (385.72/kmē), it is the 190th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. There were 2798 housing units at an average density of 505.1 per square mile (195.02/kmē). The average household size was 2.3 people, and the average family size was 2.98 people.
