Hughes City is a city located in the St. Francis County, Arkansas, United States. In 2000, the population was 1867. The July 2008 population estimate is 1685, giving it the 141st largest population among Arkansas. The city comprises an area of 2.17 mi˛ (5.62 square kilometre), of which, 2.15 square miles (5.57 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 233rd largest by total area among Arkansas.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1867 people in the city, organized into 682 households, and 494 families living in the city. The population density was 869.8 people per square mile (335.83/km˛), making it the 123rd most densely populated city in Arkansas.
