It is the 186th smallest in terms of population. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the census designated place has a total area of 22.51 mi˛ (58.3 square kilometre), of which, 8.86 square miles (22.95 square kilometre) of it is land and 13.65 square miles (35.35 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Michigan's 34th largest by total area. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in Michigan.
