Hoover City, Alabama


Hoover City is one of the city of Jefferson and Shelby counties, Alabama, located towards the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 62742 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 71020, making it the sixth most populous in Alabama. The city encompasses an area of 43.65 sq mi (113.05 square kilometre ), of which, 43.13 square miles (111.71 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.51 square miles (1.32 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 15th largest in terms of geographical size.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 62742 people, 25191 households, and 17407 families residing in the city. The population density was 1454.6 people per square mile (561.62/kmē), it is Alabama's 24th most densely populated city. The racial makeup of the city was 54997 White, 4248 Black or African American, 99 American Indian, 1812 Asian, 21 Native Hawaiian, 684 from two or more races and 881 Ohter races.
