Honolulu County is a United States county located in the United States of Hawaii. It is home to over 876156 people (2000 census). Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 905034, It is the largest in terms of population. The county extends throughout a territory of 2126.85 mi˛ (5508.52 square kilometre ), of which, 599.77 square miles (1553.4 square kilometre) of it is land and 1527.08 square miles (3955.12 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Hawaii's third largest county by total area. It is ranks first in the size of its inland waterways in Hawaii.

As of the census of 2000, there were 876156 residents, 286450 households, and 205672 families in the county. The population density was 1460.8 people per square mile (564.02/km˛), it would be the most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Hawaii. There were 315988 housing units at an average density of 526.9 per square mile (203.44/km˛). The average household size was 2.95 people, and the average family size was 3.46 people. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 23.8% under the age of 18, 10.1% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 22% from 45 to 64, and 13.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 101.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.7 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 905034, The racial makeup of the county was 232475 White, 35953 Black or African American, 5152 American Indian, 403810 Asian, 76628 Native Hawaiian, and 151016 from two or more races.
