As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 10233, It is the 25th most populous county in the U.S. state of Nebraska. It covers total area of 2417.65 mi˛ (6261.68 square kilometre), of which, 2412.66 square miles (6248.76 square kilometre) of it is land and 4.99 square miles (12.92 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the fifth largest by area in the U.S. state of Nebraska.
