Hinton City, Summers County, West Virginia is a city located in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. It is home to over 2880 people (2000 census). Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 2532, giving it the 53rd largest population among West Virginia. The city comprises an area of 3.05 square miles (7.9 kmē), of which, 2.31 square miles (5.98 kmē) of it is land and 0.74 square miles (1.92 kmē) of it is water, makes it the 65th largest by total area in West Virginia. It is ranks eighth in the size of its inland waterways in West Virginia.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2880 people, 1357 households, and 756 families residing in the city. The population density was 1244.5 people per square mile (480.5/kmē), making it the 120th most densely populated city in West Virginia.
