Hinsdale County, Colorado is a county of the United States of Colorado. The population of county in 2000 stood at 790 as per the Census data. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 840, It is the least populous county in the U.S. state of Colorado. It is spread over 1123.14 miē (2908.92 kmē), of which, 1117.68 square miles (2894.78 kmē ) of it is land and 5.46 square miles (14.14 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 41st largest by total area among Colorado's county.


As of the census of 2000, there were 790 people in the county, organized into 359 households, and 247 families residing in the county. The population density was 0.7 people per square mile (0.27/kmē), it is the least densely populated county in the U.S. state of Colorado. There were 1304 housing units at an average density of 1.2 per square mile (0.46/kmē). The average household size was 2.2 and the average family size was 2.6. In the county the population was spread out, with 19.5% under the age of 18, 4.7% from 18 to 24, 29.5% from 25 to 44, 34.7% from 45 to 64, and 11.6% who were 65 or older.
