Hilton Head Island Town is one of the town of Beaufort County, South Carolina, located towards the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. As per the 2000 census, town has a population of 33862 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 33913, It is the ninth largest by population in the U.S. state of South Carolina. It is spread over 55.55 sq mi (143.87 kmē), of which, 42.06 square miles (108.93 kmē ) of it is land and 13.49 square miles (34.94 kmē) of it is water, it is the fourth largest by area in the U.S. state of South Carolina. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in South Carolina.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 33862 people, 14408 households, and 9899 families residing in the town. The population density was 805.1 people per square mile (310.85/kmē), it is 156th most densely populated town in South Carolina. There were 24647 housing units at an average density of 586 per square mile (226.26/kmē). The average household size was 2.32 people, and the average family size was 2.68 people.
