High Shoals Town, Gaston County, North Carolina is a town located in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. The population of the town was 729 as per the 2000 census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 802, It is 210th least populous in North Carolina. It is spread over 1.84 sq mi (4.77 kmē), of which, 1.79 square miles (4.64 kmē ) of it is land and 0.05 square miles (0.13 kmē) of it is water, it is the 396th largest by area in the U.S. state of North Carolina.

As of the census of 2000, there were 729 residents, 284 households, and 214 families in the town. The population density was 407.5 people per square mile (157.34/kmē), it is 179th least densely populated town in North Carolina. There were 315 housing units at an average density of 176 per square mile (67.95/kmē). The average household size was 2.57 persons, and the average family size was 2.96 persons.
