Hickman County is a county located in Tennessee, in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. The population of county in 2000 stood at 22295 as per the Census data. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 23841, It is 59th most populous county in Tennessee. It is spread over 612.7 sq mi (1586.89 sq km), of which, 612.52 square miles (1586.42 sq km ) of it is land and 0.18 square miles (0.47 sq km) of it is water, making it the 11th largest by size in Tennessee.

In the county the population was spread out, with 24.7% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 31% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 12% who were 65 or older.
