Hertford Town is a town in the Perquimans County, North Carolina, United States. In 2000, the population was 2070. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 2185, It is the 264th largest by population in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The town extends throughout a territory of 2.72 square miles (7.04 sq km ), of which, 2.69 square miles (6.97 sq km) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 sq km) of it is water, it is the 305th largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2070 people, 877 households, and 557 families living in the town. The population density was 768.5 people per square mile (296.72/kmē), it is the 297th most densely populated town in the U.S. state of North Carolina.
