Henrico County is one of the 135 county of Virginia, located towards the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 262300 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 292599, making it Virginia's fifth largest county. The county comprises an area of 244.6 mi˛ (633.51 sq km), of which, 238.06 square miles (616.57 sq km) of it is land and 6.54 square miles (16.94 sq km) of it is water, making it Virginia's 86th largest county by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 262300 people, 108121 households, and 69834 families living in the county. The population density was 1101.8 people per square mile (425.41/km˛), giving it the 34th most densely populated county among the Virginia. There were 112570 housing units at an average density of 472.9 per square mile (182.59/km˛). The average household size was 2.39 and the average family size was 2.97. In the county the population was spread out, with 24.7% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 32.9% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 12.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 88.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 83.6 males. Its population was estimated at 292599 in July 2008, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 190083 White, 81827 Black or African American, 1207 American Indian, 15093 Asian, 110 Native Hawaiian, and 4279 from two or more races.
