Hennepin County is a county in the United States of Minnesota. The county has a population of 1116200 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 1140988, making it the most populous county in Minnesota. Its area is just over 606.38 sq mi (1570.52 kmē), of which, 556.62 square miles (1441.64 kmē) of it is land and 49.77 square miles (128.9 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 54th largest by total area among Minnesota's county.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1116200 people, 456129 households, and 267303 families residing in the county. The population density was 2005.3 people per square mile (774.25/kmē), making it the second most densely populated county in Minnesota. There were 468824 housing units at an average density of 842.3 per square mile (325.21/kmē). The average household size was 2.39 people, and the average family size was 3.07 people. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 24% under the age of 18, 9.7% from 18 to 24, 33.7% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 11% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.7 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 1140988, The racial makeup of the county was 917878 White, 121221 Black or African American, 13248 American Indian, 63150 Asian, 1094 Native Hawaiian, and 24397 from two or more races.
