Henderson County is a one of the county from Kentucky's 120 counties, located in Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. The population of the county was 44829 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 45462, making it the 21st most populous county in Kentucky. It is spread over 467.24 square miles (1210.15 square kilometre), of which, 440.12 square miles (1139.91 square kilometre ) of it is land and 27.11 square miles (70.21 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 21st largest by area in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It is ranks fifth in the size of its inland waterways in Kentucky.

As of the census of 2000, there were 44829 people in the county, organized into 18095 households, and 12570 families residing in the county. The population density was 101.9 people per square mile (39.34/kmē), making its Kentucky's 24th most densely populated county. There were 19466 housing units at an average density of 44.2 per square mile (17.07/kmē). The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 2.93. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 110.4 females. In July 2008, its estimated population was 45462, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 90.86% White, 7.48% Black or African American, 0.16% American Indian, 0.47% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 1% from two or more races.
