Henderson County is a county in the United States of Illinois. The county has a population of 8213 as per the 2000 census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 7477, It is the 12th smallest in terms of population. The county encompasses an area of 395.12 mi˛ (1023.36 square kilometre ), of which, 378.81 square miles (981.11 square kilometre) of it is land and 16.31 square miles (42.24 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 27th smallest by total area in Illinois.

In the county the population was spread out, with 23.1% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 26.2% from 25 to 44, 26.5% from 45 to 64, and 16.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.7 males. Its population was estimated at 7477 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 98.34% White, 0.47% Black or African American, 0.15% American Indian, 0.09% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 0.91% from two or more races.
