According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Henderson City is home to 16095 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 15850, It is the 46th largest by population in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The city encompasses an area of 8.25 square miles (21.37 sq km ), of which, 8.24 square miles (21.34 sq km) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 sq km) of it is water, it is the 92nd largest in terms of geographical size.
