Heard County is a United States county located in the United States of Georgia. In 2000, the population was 11012. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 11476, making it Georgia's 42nd smallest county. The county comprises an area of 301.08 mi˛ (779.79 square kilometre), of which, 296.03 square miles (766.71 square kilometre) of it is land and 5.06 square miles (13.11 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 99th largest by area in the U.S. state of Georgia.

The population density was 37.2 people per square mile (14.36/km˛), making its Georgia's 52nd least densely populated county. The population's age distribution was 28.7% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 30.7% from 25 to 44, 22% from 45 to 64, and 11% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.1 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 11476, The racial makeup of the county was 10069 White, 1241 Black or African American, 36 American Indian, 33 Asian, 8 Native Hawaiian, and 89 from two or more races.
