Headland City is one of the city of Henry County, Alabama, located towards the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 3523 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 4019, making it Alabama's 136th largest. The city encompasses an area of 16.04 miē (41.54 kmē ), of which, 16.03 square miles (41.52 kmē) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 66th largest by total area among Alabama.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 3523 people, 1423 households, and 1028 families residing in the city. The population density was 219.7 people per square mile (84.83/kmē), giving it the 320th most densely populated city among the Alabama. There were 1516 housing units at an average density of 94.6 per square mile (36.53/kmē). The average household size was 2.47 persons, and the average family size was 2.94 persons. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 25.9% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 26.8% from 25 to 44, 24.3% from 45 to 64, and 14.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 84.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 77.7 males. The median age is 37.2 years, the median age of male residents at 34 and the median age of female residents at 40.1. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 2379 White, 1102 Black or African American, 7 American Indian, 3 Asian, Native Hawaiian, 31 from two or more races and 1 Ohter races.
