Hawthorne City is a city located in the Alachua County, Florida, United States. In 2000, city's population was 1415 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 1553, making it the 203rd least populous in Florida. The city comprises an area of 3.35 sq mi (8.68 square kilometre), of which, 3.2 square miles (8.29 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.15 square miles (0.39 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 464th largest by total area in Florida.
