Harrison County, Missouri is a county located in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 8850. In July 2008, its estimated population was 8844, It is 19th least populous county in Missouri. The county encompasses an area of 726.45 mi˛ (1881.5 square kilometre ), of which, 725.13 square miles (1878.08 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.32 square miles (3.42 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 26th largest by area in the U.S. state of Missouri.

As of the census of 2000, there were 8850 people, 3658 households, and 2489 families living in the county. The population density was 12.2 people per square mile (4.71/km˛), it is 13th least densely populated county in Missouri. There were 4316 housing units at an average density of 6 per square mile (2.32/km˛). The average household size was 2.36 people, and the average family size was 2.88 people. In the county the population was spread out, with 23.8% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 23.9% from 25 to 44, 23.2% from 45 to 64, and 22% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 106.1 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 111.6 females. In July 2008, its estimated population was 8844, The racial makeup of the county was 98.03% White, 0.28% Black or African American, 0.31% American Indian, 0.35% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, and 0.97% from two or more races.
