Harrison County is a county in the United States of Kentucky. As of 2000 the population was 17983. Its population was estimated at 18654 in July 2008, It is 60th most populous county in Kentucky. It covers total area of 309.88 square miles (802.59 square kilometre), of which, 309.68 square miles (802.07 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.52 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 62nd largest by size in Kentucky.

As of the census of 2000, there were 17983 people, 7012 households, and 5065 families residing in the county. The population density was 58.1 people per square mile (22.43/kmē), it is Kentucky's 61st most densely populated county. There were 7660 housing units at an average density of 24.7 per square mile (9.54/kmē). The average household size was 2.53 persons, and the average family size was 2.99 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 25% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 29.8% from 25 to 44, 23.6% from 45 to 64, and 13.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 105.3 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 108.1 females. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 18654, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 17943 White, 456 Black or African American, 55 American Indian, 40 Asian, 3 Native Hawaiian, and 157 from two or more races.
