Harper County, Kansas is a county of the United States of Kansas. In 2000, the population was 6536. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 5857, It is the 62nd largest in terms of population. It covers total area of 802.95 miē (2079.63 kmē), of which, 801.44 square miles (2075.72 kmē) of it is land and 1.51 square miles (3.91 kmē) of it is water, makes it the 45th largest by total area in Kansas.


According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 6536 people, 2773 households, and 1807 families living in the county. The population density was 8.2 people per square mile (3.17/kmē), it is the 59th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Kansas. There were 3270 housing units at an average density of 4.1 per square mile (1.58/kmē). The average household size was 2.3 and the average family size was 2.9. The population's age distribution was 24.7% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 22% from 25 to 44, 23.5% from 45 to 64, and 23.2% who were 65 or older.
