Harlingen City is a city in the Cameron County, Texas, United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 57564 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 64843, It is the 41st largest by population in the U.S. state of Texas. Its area is just over 34.32 square miles (88.89 square kilometre), of which, 34.07 square miles (88.24 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.26 square miles (0.67 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 66th largest by size in Texas.

As of the census of 2000, there were 57564 people in the city, organized into 19021 households, and 14358 families residing in the city.
