Harlan County is a county in the United States of Nebraska. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 3786 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 3322, making it Nebraska's 29th smallest county. It is spread over 574.18 sq mi (1487.12 sq km), of which, 552.78 square miles (1431.69 sq km ) of it is land and 21.4 square miles (55.43 sq km) of it is water, it is the 59th largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks sixth in the size of its inland waterways in Nebraska.
