Harding County, South Dakota


Harding County is one of the 66 county of South Dakota, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 1353. The July 2008 population estimate is 1145, It is the second least populous county in the U.S. state of South Dakota. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2677.58 square miles (6934.9 sq km), of which, 2670.5 square miles (6916.56 sq km) of it is land and 7.08 square miles (18.34 sq km) of it is water, making it the fourth largest by size in South Dakota.

The population density was 0.5 people per square mile (0.19/kmē), it would be the least densely populated county in the U.S. state of South Dakota.
