Hardin County is a one of the county from Tennessee's 95 counties, located in Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 25578 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 26227, It is 56th most populous county in Tennessee. The county encompasses an area of 596.31 sq mi (1544.44 sq km ), of which, 577.86 square miles (1496.65 sq km) of it is land and 18.45 square miles (47.79 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 16th largest by total area in Tennessee.
