According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 67282, It is Indiana's 25th most populous county. The county comprises an area of 306.73 mi˛ (794.43 sq km), of which, 306.12 square miles (792.85 sq km) of it is land and 0.61 square miles (1.58 sq km) of it is water, making it Indiana's 12th smallest county by total area.

The July 2008 population estimate is 67282, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 64377 White, 1727 Black or African American, 110 American Indian, 543 Asian, 12 Native Hawaiian, and 513 from two or more races.
