Hanalei Cdp is a census designated place located in the Kauai County, Hawaii, United States. As of 2000 the population was 478. It is the 11th smallest by population in the U.S. state of Hawaii. It has total area of 0.82 square miles (2.12 sq km), of which, 0.65 square miles (1.68 sq km) of it is land and 0.17 square miles (0.44 sq km) of it is water, giving it the ninth smallest by total area among Hawaii.
